Environmental Health Services
The Office of Environmental Health and Safety (OEHS) is committed to the health and safety of our students, employees, contractors, and communities. This goal is supported through periodic inspections of existing District facilities, and careful review of all proposed school sites, to ensure a school environment that is health-protective and conducive to learning. OEHS actively champions environmentally sound practices and safe behaviors, and continuously improves emergency management procedures and practices to ensure the District can effectively prepare for, and respond to, any emergency.
OEHS administers a wide range of environmental, health, and safety programs, including programs covering: indoor environmental quality, new site assessment, emergency response, workplace injury reduction and training for safe work practices, safe school inspections, waste recycling and hazardous waste pick-up, traffic and pedestrian safety, drug and alcohol testing, medical surveillance of employees, asbestos and lead abatement compliance, and testing for lead in drinking water.
